Admission

Al Fajr Blooming Buds Montessori Preschool is functioning in the fourth floor of Palm Land buildings, Temple road, Aluva. The spacious and well ventilated air conditioned class rooms, Assembly hall, sleeping room, dining room, and office spaces are beautifully furnished.

Dress Code

It is essential that you name your child’s clothing to avoid confusion and items getting lost. In the Nursery, the children have PE once a week which will fall on Wednesdays. Please send your child to school in PE uniform on this day with an extra change of clothes in case of toilet incidents. A full list of school uniform is available from the front desk. Children are not allowed to wear any gold or any other ornaments in the school.

Arrival and Departure

If you wish to drop your child and depart, staff is on duty from 8.30 am to supervise early arrivals.
At departure time children are called by the Teaching Assistants to be handed at the internal gate to parents or carers.
Identification may be asked for to ensure that your child is being collected by the nominated person. Asking for identification can slow the dispersal process down; however, it allows us to ensure the safety of your child.
We would ask you to please be punctual when bringing or collecting your child from Nursery. It can be very distressing to your child to have to enter a room where circle time has begun or to be the last one to be collected from school.
Parents of children who are persistently late for arrival or dismissal times will receive individual letters from the Head discussing how this can adversely affect your child’s attitude towards being in the school

Creating a Partnership with Parents and Guardians

YOUR CHILD IS SPECIAL TO US
Parents are the most important people in their children’s lives. It is from parents that the children learn most, particularly in the early years. The closer the links between parents and Nursery staff, the more effective that learning become Schooling is a partnership. It is a shared experience between family and school. To gain the most we encourage parent’s involvement. The teachers feel that it is important to meet you and they are always happy to chat about your child’s activities, interests, problems, or anything that may be affecting their life in school. Meetings before the start of school and at the end of the school day are preferred. Please contact the teacher directly to schedule a time. If you need to see the Principal, you may make an appointment with the receptionist. If you wish to relay important messages to the Class Teacher (e.g. changes in their arrangements to go home) messages can be taken by the receptionist a nd will be delivered to the Class Teacher by internal mail. Class Teachers are not available during the day to answer telephone calls as they are engaged in teaching. The Diary is a very important means of communication between home and school. Please check the diary daily for messages from the teacher.

ABBS finds tremendous value in applying contemporary technologies and innovative techniques in our curriculum.

The Nursery Curriculum is based on the Montessori system together with Unitek education software providing audio-visual, activity based pedagogy. This provides goals for the children’s learning before they embark on CBSCE or ICSCE. Our curriculum emphasizes the following aspects;

The importance of bringing local and contemporary issues into the curriculum to increase the relevance of teaching and learning for our pupils
The need to make meaningful cross-curricular links between areas of learning to ensure integration
The teaching of values as an essential part of developing the ‘whole child’
The teaching of generic skills for lifelong learning or ‘learning to learn’

Learning through Five S and Three H

Your child begins to learn long before s/he starts school and most of this learning occurs through observation and imitation. Parents are the first teachers and Teachers are the second parents. Lots of opportunities for learning happen through every day activities at home. Children learn by practical experience with real objects and materials. A Child experiences this universe through five senses-visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory and gustatory with a coordination of Head, Heart and Hand. By sharing and observing their play activities, parents at home and staff in the Nursery classes can help the children to develop their interests and learn new skills. Young children have to learn to get on with each other. They need to learn to take turns and to share and they will learn to enjoy each other’s company too.

The role of the teacher is crucial in:

Planning the resources for a challenging environment;
Supporting children’s learning through planned play activity;
Extending and supporting children’s spontaneous play;
Extending and developing children’s language and communication in their play. Religious / Moral instruction is imparted as part of the curriculum.

OUR GRADING SYSTEM

Each child will have a personal record which will be filled in on a regular basis by the Class Teacher based on observations, assessments and your child’s performance. This recognizes that all children achieve and make progress. As thechildren get older more formal records will be kept of their attainment. This record is essential as it helps us:

To value each child as a skilled learner and to gain a picture of the whole child
To provide opportunities for the child to demonstrate what s/he knows
To recognize what the child understands and enable us to plan for the next step
To develop the child’s confidence and self-esteem by appreciating what she/he can do
To share information in the interest of the child with staff, family, carers and other
To help us to review and evaluate our practice, ensuring quality provision for each child.
